It all started when…

The Ellsworth Meditation Center (Vajra Vidya Downeast) is a Buddhist meditation and study center, with a Tibetan influence, where our focus is on the practice and study of the Buddha’s teachings - the Buddha Dharma.

We meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm - 8pm. The evening is divided between mindfulness meditation and the discussion of key texts by accomplished Buddhist teachers. Meditation instruction is available from senior students, for those who wish it. Please plan to arrive arrive 15 minutes early.

The Ellsworth Meditation Center was founded in 1990 by Bill and Jane Lawless, under the direction of the Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. Thrangu Rinpoche is one of the most highly regarded living Buddhist scholars, teachers and meditation masters in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
